Club History

Founded in 1937, FotoCraft Camera Club has always been at the forefront of capturing and preserving images of life in Washington, DC. The founding members of the FotoCraft Camera Club, a group of African-American photographers met at the 12th Street YMCA, later known as the Anthony Bowen YMCA in northwest Washington, DC which was for African-American men. It was the only location that FotoCraft could meet at that time. Co-founder Edward Fletcher is pictured to the right, you can read his biography here.

The club today continues to provide opportunities for fellowship, beneficial experiences, and community service through photography.
